Dear Mr. and Mrs. Schaudies: First of all, the lilies of the valley are nestled away in a little corner of my patio. As I planted them I back-tracked to when Mr. Trigg and Charlie and I planted those same lily bulbs around the big fire place at the Studio. I appreciated so much having a few of that bed – purely sentiment of course – and I appreciate the part you played in getting them for me. A letter from Judge Stranahan tells me he will be sending up to you shortly, some wild clematus[sic] roots and he will also send the sage brush that I told you of when I came back from Fort Benton last sum- mer. They will be an asset to the Russell Memorial Grounds. I have given the Judge your name and the house address. As soon as things straighten out and I have the time I will get the picture framed that I told you I would be sending on for the Studio but as the Studio is closed there isn’t any great hurry. I have heard from many different sources how much the studio has pleased a lot of people and your in- terest and the hard work put in by you all there on the place, has been one of the things that has made it a success. I was glad to see Mr. Schaudies for the few minutes that he stayed at the Lake and I am always interested and will be glad to hear from you how hings[sic] are progressing or shaping up in the work there at the Memorial .
