The Serape and the Rebozo
Men’s beaded leather moccasins with blue beaded field with triangular designs around perimeter and a bird design on vamp / Unidentified
Essay/Description
Men’s beaded leather moccasins with hard sole; fully beaded translucent blue background. Green pigment on one and a purple pigment on other toes not seen in character with these moccasins. Possibly added after leaving Native American hands. Blue beaded field with triangular designs around perimeter and a bird design on vamp. Small lane of beadwork at instep. “V” shaped split in cuff. All beadwork done with lazy stitch.
Curatorial Remarks
The animal design on the top of the moccasins is a Thunderbird like design. The Thunderbird is not associated with Native American Church. These moccasins have been worn and are hard soled.
