Hard-soled beaded moccasins with cuff / Unidentified

Essay/Description

Men's moccasins, beaded in colors with bear claw design worked in. Hard sole with cuff. Beaded white background with red and blue geometric designs around perimeter and a blue zoomorphic design on vamp. Small lane of beaded at instep. "V" shaped spilt in cuff. Beading is done in lazy stitch.

Curatorial Remarks

The heel of the moccasins resembles typical Cheyenne style with the beadwork going up the back. They were worn. The design on the toe is a unique and high unusual element. These moccasins probably had a personal meaning and have some sort of important significance.
