Silver U.S. quarters and bead necklace with a large silver Naja pendant / Unidentified

Essay/Description

Silver coin necklace, with silver beads, 8 silver U.S. quarters ranging in date from 1892-1899, and a large silver Naja pendant.

Squash-blossom style necklace with coins in place of blossom beads. Eight (8) silver U.S. quarters are soldered to triangular, knurled and pierced attachment sections that allow them to be strung on a brown strip of cotton fabric rolled into a cord. The coins are interspersed among hollow silver beads fabricated from two die-stamped domed halves soldered together. The large silver Naja is cast. The crescent-shaped "Naja" design is a Spanish influence. It is associated with many Mediterranean cultures. The Barber Liberty quarters range in date from 1892-1899. Two have mint marks, one for New Orleans and one for San Francisco.
