[1] My Dear Mrs. Russell If I should take to California five or six of Mr. Russell’s originals in oil, do you think you could help me dispose of them – they will be consigned to me and with the [illegible] that sign with them and handle them personally- one of the pictures is similar to the one I sold – The same squaw, papoose, white horse and dog in the foreground – another is [2] a [illegible] scene with two Indians in the foreground in native dress + belongings, [illegible] a deer- I will be glad to hear from you at once what – you think might be the prospects of disposing of them then, I’ve had letters from [illegible] + the Glandall galleries. I would rather go to California than to New York with them, but I want the best price and I would be glad of your help- The picture I sold is in Santa Barbara, with the [N.R Carles?] – It wouldn’t be for sale [3] I am sure, that Mr. [Carles?] is delightful, and I am sure would be glad to show it to you- They surely got it at a bargain- Mr. [Carles?] has some of Mr. Russells bronze and is very fond of them – Sincerely [signed] [illegible] E. MacGilliway, January the 20th
